About the team

Working within Managed Services, the DBA Team currently comprise of 7 DBA’s, 5 of whom specialized in Oracle, PostgreSQL and MySQL with the remaining 2 DBA’s working on Microsoft SQL Server. The DBA team provides remote database administration services for 1500+ database instances across several different customers. Our primary support platforms are Oracle 12c/18c/19c, MySQL 4.0 through to 8, PostgreSQL 9 to 10 and Microsoft SQL Server 2008 upwards.
The vast majority of Oracle / MySQL and PostgreSQL instance are running primarily on Linux / UNIX, although there are some instances running on a Windows platform.

About the role

As part of the global operations team working from within the EU, the role will be primarily working for a German based customer, whilst providing support for other EU clients when required due to other team member absences (holidays etc.). It will require interaction with various support teams within Managed Services such as OS, Storage and Virtualization team as well as non-technical teams such as Service Desk, Change Management, and the Project Management Office.

Tasks

• To support and maintain MS SQL Server instances and databases.
• To provide DBA Support to project, development, and infrastructure teams.
• To ensure that all SLA’s are maintained.
• Respond to all SQL Server related incidents.
• Assist the team with proactive improvements to internal processes.
• Mentoring and coaching other members of the team.
• To participate in the change control process.
• To participate in the team’s out-of-hours on-call support rota.

Requirements

• Extensive database administration experience in an MS SQL Server environment. Ideally the applicant will have at least 4+ years SQL Server experience working with Versions 2005 through to 2016, with at least 2 years in a production environment.
• Extensive experience of Windows 2008 and Windows 2012 Operating Systems.
• Experience of working with High Availability solutions such as Windows Clustering, Database Mirroring and Availability Groups.
• Knowledge working with BI implementations, (SSIS, SSRS, SSAS).
• Experience with using SQL Server replication.
• Experience working with SAN’s, NAS’s and DAS devices for the purpose of database storage.
• Experience with Disaster Recovery solutions.
• A good understanding of virtualization technologies.
• A good understanding of storage technologies.
• An aptitude for problem-solving in a multi-disciplinary environment.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Flexibility as regards to working hours.
• Proficient in English.
• Graduate in IT or equivalent relevant experience.
• Certified or pursuing certification in:
  o MCDBA.
  o Relevant Microsoft learning pathways.
• ITIL Foundation.

Advantages
